Background

An agricultural cooperative in Nairobi needed storage facilities for harvested crops that would protect produce from rain while providing adequate ventilation and natural lighting.

Solution

We designed a roofing system using FRP sheets for skylight sections to allow natural light and UPVC sheets for the main roof area. This combination ensured proper lighting for sorting activities while keeping the stored crops dry and cool.

Result

Post-harvest losses reduced by 35% due to improved storage conditions. Farmers reported better crop quality and higher market prices. The facility has served over 200 smallholder farmers since completion.
